We all know the traditional application of the archimedean screw pump where water is pumped up from a lower to a higher level. The main advantage of a screw pump is that it is taylor made to the specific installation and therefore extremely efficient for a wide range.

The new range of the Landustrie screw pump covers the hydropower screw.
An efficient use of water power is already achieved at a level difference of 1 meter and a capacity of 500 l/sec. The largest capacity and level difference for hydropower screws is as much as 15000 l/sec. at 10 meter.

In Switzerland, Hirschthal, a hydropower screw has been recently installed. The screw details are: dia. 2.8m, length 10m, capacity 3500 l/sec. power 110kW, head 3.5 m. Watch our video of this hydropower project.

At the beginning of September 2011 two large hydropower screws with screw troughs and drive units have been transported to Windsor, UK. These screws will generate sustainable energy (185kW) for local use and for the Queen's Windsor Castle. Screw diameter 4 m., screw length 5.8 m.
